Where I come from
I was born and raised in La Pocatière, QC in a Catholic family. As a child, my parents brought my brother, my two sisters and myself to Church every Sunday. I was part of the Church Children Choir for many years and when I was a teenager, I was part of a youth Catholic group called A.C.L.E. We met every 2 weeks to share our feelings about being a Catholic. We were encouraged to spread our values in our community and that is how I decided to become the coordinator of the "Brebis de Jésus" when I was in high school at the age of 15. I was a leader for this movement during 5 years.
"Les Brebis de Jésus" is a Catholic ecclesial movement which takes its life, breath, and color in the Heart of Jesus, Good Shepherd. It has his charisma and his own pedagogy to form disciples willing to follow Jesus. This movement has been recognized as a private Association of the faithful of diocesan right in 2006. For more information, visit Les brebis de Jésus website.
I also went to a private Catholic high school where I could openly share my values with my friends. This school allowed me to connect with the world in a catholic point of view, especially when I was chosen to be part of the group "Paramundo" in Grade 11, with whom I had the chance to help under privileged people in Dominican Republic at the age of 16 during two weeks.
This first humanitarian trip inspired me to travel some more, and to use my strength and values to help people in need. Two years later, I was all prepared for a new experience. I decided to gather a few of my friends and teachers from the CEGEP (college) I attended at this time and together we improved our Spanish language and collected money to spend a month volunteering and helping children and under privileged people in Peru.
When I was in High School and College, I worked a lot with the kids at Montessori School where I got a lot of experiences in health and education of children. This is when I decided to become a teacher. A few years later I received my Bachelor of Education degree at Laval University in Quebec City.
I spent all my childhood summers in PEI where I mostly learned my English. I also spent a few summers working in West Canada (British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Alberta). I love to travel and I have been to many different places in the last few years. I knew for a long time that I wanted to become a teacher somewhere in West Canada and I am very grateful for having my dream come true.
